Barye Unit | All you need to know

The barye (symbol: Ba) is a CGS unit of pressure equal to one dyne per square centimeter or exactly 0.1 pascal. It was widely used in the centimetre-gram-second (CGS) system before the widespread adoption of SI units. Today, the barye is mainly encountered in historical scientific literature and older engineering references. It is part of the CGS system of units.

One barye is equal to 0.1 pascal, 1 dyne per square centimeter, 0.000001 bar, 0.0001 kilopascal, and 9.86923×10^-7 standard atmosphere. Although obsolete in most applications, the barye remains an important historical pressure unit.
